Veedol produced the first semi-synthetic oil in 1961. The Columbia Space Shuttle flew into space in 1979 using Veedol fully synthetic motor oil.

Firtz B. Busch broke the flying kilometer and flying mile records for diesel-powered vehicles with a Mercedes Benz vehicle sponsored by Veedol. The record was achieved at a speed of 155 mph using Veedol Star Diesel oil.
